The F-4 Phantom II is a supersonic multirole fighter that has been in service with the U.S. Air Force since the 1960s. Designed by McDonnell Aircraft, it was used in interception, bombing and reconnaissance missions, m.in. during the Vietnam War. It reached speeds of over Mach 2 and carried a wide range of weapons. On the USS Midway aircraft carrier, the museum in San Diego Phantom II is one of the key exhibits. Visitors can see it up close, learning about its role in the history of military aviation.
