The crunch of crampons biting into the ice. A tired hand sticking an ice axe into a snow wall. Heavy breathing as you struggle to jerk up your body to move half a meter up again. Only 100 meters more separate you from the summit of K2, one of the most difficult eight-thousanders. Will you be able to cope and reach for victory?
K2 is a family board game in which participants lead teams of two-person Himalayan climbers and try to reach the eponymous peak, and then safely descend. For this purpose, we will have to choose the right route, take care of the condition of our climbers and adapt them to changing weather conditions. In addition to the base game, K2: Big Box includes three exciting expansions: Broad Peak, Lhotse (each with two new climbing routes) and the Avalanche mini expansion!
What does it involve?

- Each participant starts the game with two Himalayan climbers' pawns. Our goal is to bring at least one of them as high as possible and bring it back safely.
- The gameplay in K2 is based on playing cards. They allow you to move the pawns and increase the level of acclimatization of our climbers. 
- The game is played for 18 turns, representing the 18 days of the expedition. Players simultaneously plan their moves by choosing the cards they will play and placing them face down in front of them. After discovering them, they perform actions one by one.
- In addition to the climb itself and choosing the right route, acclimatization is important in the game, i.e. how our Himalayan climbers endure the increasing altitude and changing weather conditions. Camping actions and card effects allow us to increase their safety and chances of survival.
- The game ends when all weather tiles are exhausted. The winner is the person who scored the most victory points in total (out of two Himalayan climbers).

What does the Big Box contain? 
In addition to the base game, you will find 3 expansions in the Big Box:

- Lhotse, a brand new peak to explore and conquer, in which a double-sided board represents two routes of ascent: the South Pass and the extremely difficult South Face. The expansion also introduces new weather tiles and a completely new mechanic: rope tokens, which allow you to set your own routes.
- Broad Peak, containing two new scenarios inspired by the achievements of Polish Himalayan mountaineers from 1984. Each of them has its own board and special rules that make the game diverse and exciting. Running to the Top is a fast-paced and tense version of the game, in which the expedition is shorter by 3 days and forces us to operate with much smaller decks. The Broad Peaks Traverse, on the other hand, encourages us to take risks, offering additional points for reaching all three peaks.
- Avalanche mini expansion, which adds variety to the weather tiles and increases the difficulty of the game, also bringing consequences to camping Himalayan climbers.
