Monsters in Tokyo is a board game by Richard Garfield, the author of the cult collectible series Android: Netrunner and Magic: The Gathering. In Monsters in Tokyo we will embody six terrifying beasts spreading destruction and fighting each other for dominance over the capital of Japan. In the box, we will find personalities like Kraken, Giga Zaur, King Kong, or Cyber Kitty. The game is based on the hill-fighting mechanic where the monster in Tokyo is attacked by all others and at the same time must remain there as long as possible to earn victory points. Monsters in Tokyo offers very simple rules and at the same time many gameplay options. While battling other monsters, we will need to strategically shift and distribute the symbols on the dice, while skillfully using the special action cards.

What to fight with?
What will the monsters fight with? With dice! During their turn, each player rolls 6 black dice (using special cards, 2 green can also be added). The dice contain numbers from 1 to 3 and three effects: for each rolled Claw symbol, we will deal one damage, each Heart will restore 1 life point, and each Lightning will provide 1 energy die. If we roll three of the same number, we get as many victory points as that number shows.
How to fight?
During their turn, a player must enter Tokyo unless it is already occupied by another player. In a 5- or 6-player game, Tokyo consists of the Center and the Bay, whereas with fewer monsters, only the Center. The player entering the city (Center or Bay) immediately receives 1 victory point and 2 points if they start their next turn there. When a monster in Tokyo attacks, it deals damage to all monsters outside Tokyo. But be careful! This rule also works in the opposite direction.
Punch and knockout!
And here is my special power! By spending the gathered energy kitties, we can during our turn buy various cards from the bank that will provide us with amazing possibilities! All cards are divided into two categories with a permanent effect and for immediate use and discarding. Each card has its cost and effect. For example, by using the Candy card, we can increase our maximum life level to 14 points! The game ends when one of the players earns 20 VP or is left alone on the battlefield!
