Red Cathedral Game
Red Cathedral is a compact, medium-weight euro game that uses many mechanics, such as worker placement, area control, and saucepan mechanics. Workers are symbolized here by moving dice, which will surely appeal to all fans of games such as Tekhenu or Teotihuacan. The action of The Red Cathedral takes us to sixteenth-century Moscow, where Tsar Ivan the Terrible commissions his workers to build a monumental temple. Representing crafting workshops, players will scavenge for resources and focus on individual pieces of the cathedral in an effort to complete them before their opponents. The game box, with its small size, contains a huge number of detailed components, such as plastic and wooden resources, cards, coins or the Market Square, decorated with motifs of old Russian fairy tales. The Red Cathedral presents different game boards depending on the number of players, while offering an extensive solo variant.
The will of the tsar
The order was given. A monumental cathedral is to be built in Moscow, overshadowing the whole world with its magnificence. Crowds of workers go to work, wanting to impress their ruler. Only a small group will be appreciated by the tsar. The other workers, well, may God help them.
Cathedral
The title Cathedral is depicted in the game by cards placed on the table. The hand will vary depending on the number of players and the pattern drawn. One of the available actions of the player is to reserve one of the Cathedral cards by placing his Banner on it. From now on, only this player will be able to build a given fragment, allocating the required resources presented on the selected card.
Prestige and Recognition
When you complete a Cathedral Fragment that is above another player's unfinished Fragment, they receive negative HP. In the Red Cathedral we have two types of victory points: Recognition points and much more worth Prestige points. The former will be obtained for completed fragments of the temple, the latter for making additional decorations, such as Crosses, Arches and Doors. Building the sixth Temple Fragment, i.e. starting the end of the game, also grants Prestige points.
Resource Market
The Market Board is presented in the form of a circle divided into eight zones, and a different resource is assigned to each zone. On the rim of the wheel there are four dice in the colors of the players plus one white die. When performing the Resource Acquisition action, the player chooses one die and moves it by the number of pips indicated on it. If the die is white or the player's color, the player can move one additional space for each additional ruble. The player receives as many resources from a given Market space as there are dice on it.
