In the aftermath of the relentless war between Terrans and Hegemony, all major spacefaring species have gone to great lengths to prevent events from happening again. Nevertheless, tensions are growing among the seven major species and in the Galactic Council. A confrontation seems inevitable. In Eclipse, players become the leaders of vast, interstellar civilizations and compete with their rivals for galaxy supremacy in eight rounds. In each round, players expand their civilization by exploring and colonizing new space sectors, researching technologies, and expanding their space fleet. After the eighth round, the winner is the one who was able to collect the most points by winning battles, diplomatic alliances, control over sectors and monoliths, discoveries and technological achievements.
