The Rebel Power 12 V / 1.3 Ah gel battery. Gel batteries have become an alternative to classic lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free batteries. This means they do not require electrolyte replenishment. What speaks in their favor is the sealed casing and electrolyte in gel form. This guarantees that it won’t leak, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more shock-resistant.
Durability of the gel battery. One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Among those available on the market, this type is characterized by the longest lifespan, as it can work for several years when used properly. It is also important that gel batteries exhibit greater resistance to changing and extreme weather conditions.
Automatic self-discharge (25 °C). Gel batteries can be stored for many months without the need for charging. Their capacity decreases to:
- 91% after 3 months
- 82% after 6 months
- 64% after 9 months
Selection of the gel battery. The right dimensions are not everything. When selecting a battery, attention should be paid to its capacity; it should not be greater than 110% or less than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also significant, and its value must be very close to the recommended (+/-0.2 V).
Applications of gel batteries. Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawn mowers, among other things.
