Germany at the turn of the century... at the main station in Munich, a plume of smoke announces the arrival of the train from Nuremberg. The clattering of wheels first increases, then suddenly dies away as the massive locomotive rolls into the station. The screech of brakes echoes as the train disappears into clouds of steam. Porters hurry around the passengers leaving the carriages. Meanwhile, on the adjacent platform, the dispatcher signals for departure, and the next train sets off for its destination. That destination is Berlin, the proud capital of the German Empire.
Ticket to Ride: Germany is the spiritual successor to Ticket to Ride: Marklin, one of the highest-rated versions of the game by players. The gameplay focuses on the map of the German Empire and introduces a new, interesting mechanic for acquiring passengers.
As in all other games in this series, players start with tickets in hand that show them two cities. During the game, participants collect colored cards that allow them to occupy selected routes on the board, using their own train markers. These actions enable them to gather victory points.
An additional way to gain points is through servicing passengers. At the beginning of the game, multi-colored passenger tokens are placed in all cities represented in the game. Every time we manage to build a route, we can take one of the passengers from adjacent cities of the built route with us. Additional points will be awarded to those who service the greatest number of them in the various colors.
In Ticket to Ride: Germany, we are also surprised by the division of tickets into long and short routes. Two different sets of cards can be drawn during the game according to our preference, thus controlling our strategy even more effectively.
NOTE! Ticket to Ride: Germany is a standalone game that does not require any of the previous installments of the series.
The easy-to-understand rules allow new players to join the game, while the numerous new solutions guarantee that players familiar with the previous editions of "Ticket to Ride" will also be pleased with the gameplay.
