AdBlue® is a synthetically produced 32.5% urea solution. The product is transparent, non-toxic, environmentally friendly and easy to operate. AdBlue® according to ISO 22241 is a high-purity NOx reducing agent for diesel engines with SCR catalytic converters, which is designed to meet the EURO 4, 5 and 6 emission standards according to AUS 32 (CEFIC) and ISO 22241.
AdBlue is a special fluid that is used in diesel-powered cars. To be more precise, it is a solution of urea and demineralized water, composed of 32.5% of the former substance and 67.5% of water. Its task is to neutralize pollutants emitted by vehicles with diesel engines. How does such a liquid work in practice?
However, the AdBlue fluid in a separate tank does not mix with the fuel refuelled at the station, but goes under pressure to the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalytic converter, which is located in the path of the exhaust system. It is there, under the influence of high temperature, that ammonia is released from the urea in the solution, which reacts with nitric oxide, releasing water vapour and harmless volatile nitrogen instead of exhaust gases. The liquid itself is also not harmful to humans or the environment.
